Past September my dear Flickr friend Dima sent us a cute plush Halloween cat-toy that she once designed. I was touched by this gift and decided to create something for her to show my appreciation.
I've always liked miniatures and thought a little painting of Foppe and a stork (which is Dima's favorite animal) would be a nice return gift.
Dima loved it and I had fun painting on this small size, it triggered a whole series of miniatures of our cats.
In 2009 I opened my shop on Etsy but never really did anything with it, I somehow never was motivated enough to start selling my artwork. When I posted photos of my new cat miniatures on Flickr I received lots of compliments and people asked if they could order them, I decided to put them up for sale under the name 'Foppe's Acre Originals'.
Foppe's Acre Originals is all about the residents at Foppe's Acre (our little piece of Heaven in Friesland, the Netherlands) and the wild visitors too.
The animals are a constant source of inspiration and many of them have already featured in my artwork.
After I launched the new Etsy shop I started a blog on Facebook to inform our fans about new items and related subjects. It took off by storm but I experienced a few limitations so I decided to create a separate blog right here.
I will continue to blog on Facebook (by linking) but will report mainly on this blog.
For all those who are interested in the history of Foppe's Acre Originals take a peak at my Facebook page.
I'm looking forward to make this a fun place to visit!
